Make tasks alphabetical on the server console when issuing “Show tasks”

note: I can’t publish the script to add the idea to my blog because I’m running mod_security apache module on my webserver.

Any tips on how to post script / code into blog posts with mod_security without compromising security or manually disabling mod_security just so I can post are greatly welcomed.

A few months ago, I setup a “Directory” server. This server is meant to be the administration server for names.nsf, it also serves as an LDAP service for our corporate phone directory, it also runs the directory cataloger service, and it is our registration server (where all the admins register new users and update groups). This keeps things nice and tidy and all updates happening in one location.

If you use Directory Catalog (dc.nsf), there is an agent that you can turn on that runs once a week at 2:00AM on Sundays that gives some statistics on names.nsf versus dc.nsf, the fields that are used in dc.nsf, the size, etc. etc and then sends that report to the administrators group or group of your choosing. To receive the report you simply supply a group name in the ” Send Directory Catalog reports to:” field in the Directory Catalog configuration document (configuration view of dc.nsf).

For months, I couldn’t figure out why this agent was running on the old server which used to run the dircat task instead of the new directory server.

By accident, I discovered where that configuration was hiding. I should have known this, but sometimes it’s not always obvious.

I purchased a new Imac a couple of days ago since my powerbook G4 is on it’s last leg. That has been such a great machine for 3 years and 4 months. It stopped recognizing the 2nd GB of memory, the temperature sensor below the trackpad has gone bad and the result is that is puts itself to sleep constantly, and trying to run 10.5 on it is just doggish at best.

With the new Imac home, I started downloading all the software I like to use, and started looking for Intel or Universal versions of the power PC only software that I had purchased for the powerbook.

This lead me to the online debate of which is better Neo Office, OpenOffice.org, or Lotus Symphony. I didn’t realize there was such a debate on which “fork” of the Microsoft Office alternative to use.

I’m not a heavy user of Word, Excel, or Powerpoint, but I’d like to have the functionality to do some business document processing as needed.

I’ve downloaded OpenOffice.org and the beta of Lotus Symphony and pretty much ruled out Neo Office.

I just wanted to probe the community and ask for your opinions on the two pieces of software.

I setup the diagnostics collection and Lotus Notes/Domino Fault reports database for the first time today. It only took about 15 minutes.

I created a new database called Lotus Notes/Domino Fault Reports (faultreport.nsf) from the lndfr.ntf template. I set this up on a central server that also use as my main monitoring server, which initiates mail probes to all servers. Then I created a mail-in database document for this database with the name Lotus Notes/Domino Fault Reports.

I then edited the * Server configuration document and set the diagnostics tab with the following settings:

We have Backup Exec remote agent installed on most of our Domino servers. They are backed up with a Backup Exec Media Server on another machine in most sites.

For no apparent reason, some of the Domino servers are backed up without problems, while other identical cluster mate machines cannot be connected to by the Media server.

We found that applying this registry entry from Symantec Document ID: 302505 solved most of the problems.
